WATER CRISIS IN AMERICA
The Multipure Solution
A. Here are some facts to consider regarding the state of drinking water in the United States:
- Newark facing Flint-style water crisis
- Philadelphia residents sue City over lead poisoning cover-up
- Flint water crisis captures nation’s attention
- 110+ million Americans drinking PFAS-contaminated water
- 200+ million Americans drinking chromium VI contaminated water
- 40% of US schools fail to test for lead in drinking water
A. Traveling across the United States you become aware of the importance of having access to quality drinking water that Multipure purified drinking water systems provide for homes, apartments, travel and businesses.
Multipure drinking water systems provide the highest standard of point-of-use water filtration systems for homes, businesses, offices, schools, universities, doctor’s offices, medical facilities, government, military and scientific organizations who want safe, secure and undisturbed access to clean, purified, NSF certified, drinking water.
The unfortunate tragedy in Flint, Michigan could have been avoided. It brings home the importance of having access to quality, purified drinking water that is free from harmful lead poison, chemicals and harmful contaminants to maintain good health and have peace of mind! Read more.
WATER QUALITY REPORT
A. Water municipalities are required by law to produce annual and quarterly water quality reports for state and county residents. The report describes the sources and quality of municipal drinking water supply. It is prepared in accordance with state sanitary code and National Primary Drinking Water Regulations (NPDWR). NPDWR are legally enforceable primary standards and treatment techniques that apply to public water systems. Contact your county or local water municipality to obtain a free copy of the water quality report for your area so that you may become informed about what is in your tap water and the sources of your drinking water supply.
WATER FILTRATION
A. Municipalities are required by law to deliver water to your home and businesses that is considered “safe” by EPA standards. That is to say, the municipalities focus on reducing contaminants of health concern that have been specifically identified by the EPA. However, they do not necessarily remove all contaminants that may be present in the water. Also, they generally do not filter treated water to improve taste or remove odors.
Municipal water utilities employ a wide range of harsh chemicals and technologies that typically include some form of disinfectant, but the chemicals employed for disinfection, e.g., chlorine or chloramine (secondary disinfection), leave tap water with a very noticeable taste and smell.
Additionally, once the water leaves the treatment plant it must travel through miles and miles of pipes to reach homes and offices, including the water pipes inside your home or building. There are many opportunities for water to pick up contaminants along the way, and sometimes the disinfection chemicals actually leach contaminants into the water, such as lead.
A Multipure drinking water system circumvents the distribution system by filtering your tap water at the source, i.e., at the point-of-use (POU), to remove dangerous contaminants of health concern that may be present in your tap water. A Multipure filter reduces dangerous chemicals such as lead and chlorine as well as asbestos, rust particles, dirt, small living organisms like cysts and much, much more.
The water you consume from a Multiupure drinking water system is free of unwanted tastes and odors so that you may enjoy fresh, clean tasting purified water the way nature meant it to be.
POINT OF USE FILTRATION
A. Point-of-use (POU) is a new concept in drinking water filtration that promotes safety and purification at acceptable standards. Certification by The National Science Foundation for health effects and aesthetic qualities is your best measure to assure safety and quality in your drinking water supply. It means less dependence on bottled water manufacturers, municipalities and water utility companies to ensure public safety by filtering your water at the point-of-use thereby assuring its safety and quality.
Multipure drinking water systems provide the highest standard of point-of-use drinking water filtration systems for individuals, families and organizations who want safe, secure and undisturbed access to clean, purified, NSF certified, drinking water.
Water consumers are turning to Multipure to deliver the highest quality and standard in point-of-use water filtration that each home, apartment, church, school, office, government building, military institution, hospital or medical office, restaurant, hotel & factory expects and deserves in their drinking water supply.
LEAD IN DRINKING WATER
A. Lead usually gets into drinking water at the end of the system, as it passes through lead pipes coming onto public and commercial properties and into homes. For this reason, Multipure point-of-use drinking water system is your best line of defense for removing lead from your drinking water supply at the source because it filters your water at the point-of-use to provide the best means of protection.
A. There is no safe level of lead exposure for children, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Children exposed to lead can suffer irreversible damage, including developmental delays and learning difficulties. CDC estimates that 500,000 children ages 1-5 have elevated lead in their bodies.
A. The states with the highest concentration of lead in the drinking water measured in parts per billion (ppb) in order of the highest risk of lead poisoning are:
- Texas,
- Pennsylvania,
- New York,
- California
- New Jersey,
- Maine,
- Vermont,
- Connecticut,
- Massachusetts,
- Wisconsin,
- Florida,
- Georgia, and
- North Carolina

ARSENIC IN DRINKING WATER
A. Sadly, many states across the USA are affected by water contamination problems that are not discovered or disclosed to residents for up to ten years after the contamination begins. The Water Quality Association (WQA) reported that the drinking water in rural Texas contains high levels of arsenic that has been contaminating the drinking water supply for more than ten years. In some cases these contaminants lead to cancer and can have irreversible health effects.
NITRATE IN DRINKING WATER
A. Environmental Working Group study indicates widespread nitrate pollution in U.S. drinking water — at levels linked to increased cancer risk — underscores the need for in-home water filtration, the Water Quality Association said on October 2, 2018.
WQA Executive Director Pauli Undesser said, “In-home treatment provides a final barrier to many contaminants not removed by centralized treatment or that can be picked up in service lines along the way to your residence, or that occur in private well water supplies.” Read more.
NATIONAL SCIENCE FOUNDATION – NSF
A. The National Science Foundation International (NSF) (www.nsf.org) is an independent, non-profit public health and safety organization that is commissioned to the US government. NSF is dedicated to being the leading global provider of public health and safety-based risk management solutions while serving the interests of all stakeholders, namely the public, the business community and government agencies. NSF mission is carried out by over 2,100 global employees, including microbiologists, toxicologists, chemists, engineers, and environmental and public health professionals. NSF provides independent testing, verification and certification of most Multipure drinking water systems and filters.
A. Most of Multipure filters are tested according to NSF/ANSI Standard 42 (Aesthetic Effects), Standard 53 (Health Effects) and Standard 401 (Emerging Compounds). In addition to meeting stringent NSF standards, Multipure Aquaperform is designed to remove arsenic V from the drinking water supply. Multipure’s Aqualuxe is a leader in its class and tested according to NSF Certification for NSF/ANSI Std. 42 (Aesthetics), Std. 53 (Health), Std. 401 (Emerging Compounds) and Protocol P231 (Bacteria and Viruses).
A. If your water filter is not minimally certified to meet NSF standards 42 & 53, you do not want it because it does not provide you with “reasonable assurance” that the water filter is doing what it is supposed to do. Often name brand water filters are not certified by NSF to meet standard 42 and 53 even though some may give the distinct impression that they do. For example, water filters that say they are “independently tested” to meet NSF standards 42 and 53 does not mean that they were actually tested and certified by the National Science Foundation (NSF). This marketing deception is sometimes carried out by unscrupulous water filter manufacturers who give consumers the false impression that NSF actually performed these tests, hiding the fact that the tests were conducted by a laboratory that the company hired. The only way to know if a water filter was tested and certified by NSF is to visit www.nsf.org and enter the product name in the section entitled ‘Search Certified Products & Systems’ to obtain a listing and confirmation of certification. Many times claims made by manufacturers cannot be ascertained on NSF website. This happens often because the industry is not regulated.
A. Multipure drinking water systems deliver clean, fresh tasting, high quality purified drinking water that for the most part meets or exceeds stringent water standards set by The National Science Foundation that can be independently verified by consumers at www.nsf.org. Don’t take our word for it, become a facts checking consumer, go to www.nsf.org and ‘Search Certified Products and Systems’ to give yourself the satisfaction that the Multipure product you are purchasing is certified by NSF to assure quality, aesthetics and health effects.
CARBON BLOCK TECHNOLOGY
A. Multipure is the industry leader, a pioneer in point-of-use drinking water treatment and systems. They are the originators and creators of solid carbon block technology, which is the most effective way of removing lead and other contaminants from your drinking water supply. Multipure possesses the integrity and credibility due to intensive internal quality assurance confirmed by the rigorous scrutiny and high standards of NSF International.
A. Most filters on the market are soft, granular charcoal, which are movable activated carbon filters. These filters do not have a definite pore size and can get holes where bacteria can breed and grow. Multipure’s 0.5 micron (1/50 of a thousandth of an inch) solid carbon block proprietary technology effectively eliminates this problem protecting your health and water supply, providing clean, fresh tasting purified water and peace of mind in every drop!
A. Multipure’s densely compacted ‘Solid Carbon Block’ filter has the ability to micro-strain every molecule of water through microscopic pores. Multipure’s filters are solid carbon block at 0.5 micron, meaning that Multipure filters micro filters the water molecules down to 0.5 of one millionth of a meter, which is 0.5 of one-thousandth part of a millimeter.
A. Bacteria and chemicals have a positive charge that binds to carbon. They cannot move or breathe in these small pore sizes. Molecule by molecule, Multipure filters absorb chemicals, physically takes out the particulate matter, microscopic bacteria, lead, mercury, chemical pollutants, heavy metals, 14 pharmaceuticals and other dangerous contaminants. The result is fresh tasting, cleaner water for personal consumption.
NANO-TECHNOLOGY
A. The University of Akron is developing a device that can harvest drinking water from thin air. The device uses nano-scale polymers to capture condensation and could be battery-powered. Researchers set out to “miniaturize,” the process of harvesting atmospheric water using electro-spun polymers. It’s not much different than how people in the Andes collect water — just at a much smaller scale. That we shall one day collect water from the air instead of getting it from massive state-run, centralized water processing plants and distribution systems is not anymore a far-fetched idea. The technology is here! The will and desire is needed to make it happen.
A. Multipure is that the forefront of change and innovation. This will only come about when we are willing to move from collective accumulation and distribution of drinking water to individual, decentralized point-of-use drinking water systems using nano-technology. Multipure drinking water systems take us closer to this goal in purification standards and use. The company has taken steps to put it at the forefront and leading edge of technological change and innovation that will allow Multipure to continue to set the standard and pace for developing hi-tech point-of-use drinking water systems that meet or exceed the public and consumer’s expectations for years to come in the future. When you buy a Multipure drinking water system, you are investing in the future that will serve you, your family and loves ones for generations to come!
FILTER AND CAPACITY
A. Coconut shell is used to make activated carbon and is the preferred choice in the industry. Most organic contaminants in drinking water are hydrophobic in nature. This means that they bind very well with the non-polar carbon surface within pores. As a result, activated carbon can remove organic contaminants, including many VOCs, pesticides and herbicides, disinfection by-products like Trihalomethanes, etc.
A. Multipure uses coconut shell to make their solid activated carbon block filters because coconut shell produces the smallest pore size and are the purest form of carbon known in the world. Almost 85-90% surface area of coconut shell activated carbon exists as micro-pores. These small pore sizes match the size of contaminant molecules in drinking water and therefore are very effective in trapping them. Multipure solid activated carbon block pore size of 0.5 micron (micrometer) made from coconut shells exceed industry standards and is equivalent to one thousandth of a millimeter or one millionth of a meter or one 50th of a thousandth of an inch, establishing standards and quality on which you can depend.
A. Multipure’s solid activated carbon block filters are replaced six-months to one year for a family of four depending on water quality and usage, at an average cost of about $5.00 per month or a little more than $1.00 per week. On average, Multipure filters can handle 600 gallons to 750 gallons of water. Adding an electronic capacity monitor to Multipure’s Aquaversa drinking water system significantly increases the filter’s capacity from 750 gallons to 1,200 gallon (960 gallons for Aquaperform), providing additional cost savings. The filter capacity for Aquasource whole-house point-of-entry Drinking Water System is 30,000 gallons using three filters.
A. Soft granular charcoal filters are throw-away devices available in supermarkets and retail stores throughout the United States. They are not as effective as Multipure’s Solid Carbon Block filter technology that are more robust and effective in water filtration. Most popular brands are quick fix, throw-away, low capacity filters that are almost exclusively loose granular charcoal (movable) allowing bypass and bacteria to build up over time. They are more expensive at $0.50 per gallon compared to $0.09 per gallon for Multipure Solid Block Carbon filters. Used consistently, it means that you save $518 on average for a family of four over a one year period.
The expressions ‘buyer beware!’ and ‘you get what you pay for’ couldn’t be more meaningful when choosing a water filter. A water consumer can easily spend $1,200 to $2,000 per year purchasing many replaceable, low-grade, popular $20-$50 water filters that deliver about 50-100 gallons of filtered water per filter and still not get the quality or consistent water purification standards that they expect and deserve or believe they are getting through these high profile, mass marketing schemes that are readily available in supermarkets and retail stores all across America. Simplify your life. Improve your standards. Get Multipure!
BOTTLED WATER
A. Sales of bottled water grew to $18.5 billion in 2017 (14 billion gallons of bottled water), an increase of 8.8% over previous year. Sales of bottled water in 2020 increased slightly over that period to 15 billion gallons of bottled water for approximately $20 billion. There are more regulations on tap water than bottled water. The bottled water that millions of Americans drink each day is allowed to contain higher levels of a toxic chemical associated with birth defects and cancer than tap water, according to a bottled water expert from the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) who testified in the US Senate.
NRDC says that Americans have the right to know what toxic chemicals and other contaminants, including nitrates, are in their bottled water. Unlike utility companies, bottled water companies are not required to report about the contaminants in their bottled water or whether health standards have been violated. According to NRDC, “the public should not assume that water purchased in a bottle is better regulated, more pure, or safer than most tap water”. This is a fallacy in public opinion.
PLASTIC FIBERS IN BOTTLED WATER
A. While being a good choice in emergency situations, plastic fibers are found in 90% of bottled water in the U.S. Bottled water is the next frontier on health related issues caused by drinking water, and the industry is aware of it and has identified it as an important emerging concern.
According to an article published by The Guardian on March 14, 2018:
“The World Health Organization (WHO) has announced a review into the potential risks of plastic in drinking water after a new analysis of some of the world’s most popular bottled water brands found that more than 90% contained tiny pieces of plastic. A previous study also found high levels of micro-plastic in tap water.
In the new study, analysis of 259 bottles from 19 locations in nine countries across 11 different brands found an average of 325 plastic particles for every litre of water being sold.
In one bottle of Nestlé Pure Life, concentrations were as high as 10,000 plastic pieces per litre of water. Of the 259 bottles tested, only 17 were free of plastics, according to the study.
Scientists based at the State University of New York in Fredonia were commissioned by journalism project Orb Media to analyze the bottled water.”
A. Water restrictions, fluoridation and contamination are all serious threats to humanity. Bottled water manufacturers are not required to report contaminants in their bottled water. The level of lead, arsenic, nitrates, fluoride and chlorine, which cause cancer, are reported on some manufacturers’ websites, such as Poland Spring and Deer Park. But no one takes the time to read the Water Quality Reports available on bottled water manufacturers’ websites.
Pepsi openly admits that Aquafina is just regular tap water and Coca Cola’s Dasani has done the same. Dasani has gone one step further to publicly disclose on their product labeling that they add magnesium sulphate and potassium chloride for taste. Magnesium Sulphate, commonly known as Epsom Salt, is an inorganic salt traditionally used as a component of bath salts. Potassium Chloride is metal halide salt composed of potassium and chlorine. It is commonly used as a fertilizer.
Why not filter your tap water at the point-of-use with a Multipure NSF certified drinking water system to eliminate dangerous contaminants, improve health and achieve peace of mind?
A. A leading bottled water supplier has recalled its bottled water products after one of its spring sources was found with E. coli contamination, affecting Niagara and 13 other bottled water brands. The warning was issued by Pennsylvania Departments of Agriculture, Environmental Protection and Health in June 2015.
According to Food Safety News, Niagara Bottling posted a notice that stated that:
“E Coli are bacteria whose presence indicates that the water may be contaminated with human and animal wastes. Microbes in these wastes can cause diarrhea, cramps, vomiting, nausea, headaches and other symptoms. They may pose special health risks for infants, young children, some of the elderly and people with severely compromised immune systems.”
Only bottled water with the Best Buy Date code starting “F” or “A” for June 2015 were affected.
A. Bottled water vanishes quickly off store shelves during snow storms, hurricanes and emergency situations leaving the consumer at-risk of not having access to a guaranteed source of contamination-free, purified drinking water that is needed most in emergency and disaster situations! Purchase of a Multipure drinking water system solves this problem immediately!
A. The problem with bottled water is that BPAs and other dangerous contaminants can leech from the plastic into the bottled water that you drink. These contaminants vary by product and bottled water types as many independent testing have shown. For example, the city of Cleveland carried out tests that showed that its municipal tap water was cleaner, taste better and was safer than Fiji bottled water! Dasani label discloses on each bottle of water that its water contains magnesium sulfate, a drying agent, potassium chloride, commonly used as a fertilizer, and salt. These are chemical agents that you don’t want added to your drinking water, which many consumers of bottled water unwittingly support and accept.
A. Disposable bottled water produces plastic that is non-biodegradable. The cost for plastic bottle cleanup is exorbitant and is not being addressed by private industry or government authorities. Why support the bottled water industry that is not required to provide third party testing and certification of water consumed by the public, nor are they required under any government regulation to meet NSF standards 42 and 53 for aesthetics and health effects?
In addition, the bottled water industry produce 2.5 million tons of CO2 and 1.5 million tons of plastic globally that will pollute the earth and affect future generations.
FLUORIDE IN WATER
A. Infants who consume formula made with fluoridated tap water consume up to 700 to 1,200 micrograms of fluoride, or about 100 times more than the recommended amount. According to the CDC, these early spikes of fluoride exposure during infancy provide no known advantage to teeth. These spikes can, however, produce harm.
Recent studies show that babies who are given fluoridated water in their formula develop significantly higher rates of dental fluorosis. Because of this, a number of prominent dental researchers now advise that parents should not add fluoridated water to baby formula.
ALKALINE WATER
A. Alkaline water is any drinking water that has a PH level that is greater than 7. Usually Alkaline water has a PH that is 8.0 or greater. Water with a PH that is less than 7 is considered to be acidic. The PH in the stomach is between 1.0 to 2.3. This high level of acidity is needed to digest food. Read More.
The term pH means potential hydrogen, i.e., how many hydrogen idioms are in a water-based solution. When you test how acidic a solution is, you are actually testing how many hydrogen ions are in the solution. This is often refer to as the pH level, which ranges from 0.0 to 14. A pH level of 7.0 is the median. 7.0 pH is neutral, meaning it’s neither acidic nor alkaline.
The pH level of blood plasma is a 7.4, but you should know that every body fluid, organ, cell, bone, tissue and muscle has its own pH level which might be higher or lower than 7.4. The often quoted body pH level of 7.4 is related to blood plasma. There is no overall pH for the body. pH levels vary widely throughout every organ, body fluid and part of the body. As a results, there is no standard pH level that the body should achieve. Most of the time when people are talking about the body’s pH level, they are talking about the blood’s pH level at 7.4 and not the pH level of the stomach, bone, muscle or organ, which are all different. Read More.
A. Alkaline water found in nature have minerals that have a natural affinity to the body, hence no matter how high the PH level of alkaline water that is often found in thermal sprongs with pH of 10 and above, they always have a healing effect on the body. On the other hand, alkaine water produced by ionizing alkaline machines has no natural affinity with the body and if consumed in large amount has the potential to raise the pH level of the stomach above its natural level on 1.2 to 3.5 leading to undigested food and othe health problems. Read More.
A. Don’t be fooled by the $2,000 – $6,000 price tag that alkaline water “ionizer” home appliances cost promising a path to the fountain of youth and a golden retirement by increasing alkalinity in your body. The claims are false and your health will not improve by spending more!
The reason is that the body automatically regulates itself to keep your blood and body fluids at their proper pH levels no matter what you eat or drink! In other words, you cannot change the pH balance of your blood or body fluids by drinking high pH level alkaline water produced by alkaline water ionizer machines at 8 pH to 12 pH and higher! Read more.
DISTILLED WATER
A. Distilled water de-structures the composition of water making it devoid of essential minerals that are important for health. Furthermore, distilled water does not remove chlorine and other contaminants from the drinking water supply. Distilled water is great for cleaning cuts, wounds and is often used in other medical applications, but is poor as a guaranteed source of contamination-free, fresh drinking water.
WATER IN EMERGENCY SITUATIONS
A. Multipure offers an affordable Water Emergency Treatment (WET) system that treats compromised water to provide cleaner, safer, filtered water that can be used in storms, hurricane and emergency situations. It is commonly used for wilderness camping, travel to remote areas, backpacking and more. Read more.
NATIVE AMERICAN WATER
A. If you believe that the water in Flint, Michigan is bad, the water on Native American reservations is even worst. For example, Navajo water supply is more horrific than Flint, but no one cares because they’re “Native Americans” says FirstAmericans.com. According to Natives Daily, “In the western U.S., water contamination has been a way of life for many tribes”. The advocacy group “Clean Up The Mines!” describes the situation in Navajo country as being far worse than in Flint, Michigan. The latest assault was carried out by the massive toxic spills into the Animas and San Juan Rivers when the EPA recklessly attempted to address the abandoned Gold King mine. There is no comprehensive law requiring cleanup of abandoned uranium mines, meaning corporations and government can walk away from them after exploiting their resources. Seventy-five percent of abandoned uranium mines are on federal and tribal lands, and the risks of drinking water contamination are real and significant!
THE COST FACTOR
A. All drinking water filtration systems are not created equal. Quite simply, Multipure offers a superior product, and it costs more to design, test, and manufacture a high performance product. There are many drinking water system choices available to you, and at first glance they may seem comparable. But they are not. Even among companies employing solid carbon block technology, which was first introuduced, used and innovated by Multipure, they do not match the proven performance of our products. You gain the cost saving over time after investing in a “lifetime guaranteed” Multipure drinking water system through the low cost of the replacement filters that average $70.00 for 750 gallons or $0.09 per gallon. Superior performance equates to a better value for you over the life of the product, and it gives you the peace of mind and satisfaction of knowing you are making a safe choice.
A. Compare a national brand name that sells its best water filter for $49 for 100 gallons that is not certified by NSF at an expensive price of $0.50 per gallon, against Multipure NSF-certified water filters that meet or exceed NSF standards 42 and 53 that can produce up to 1,200 gallons of purified drinking water for $70.00 “per replacement filter” or $0.06 per gallon ($70.00/1200), which is the same as $0.01 per liter ($0.06/3.785). With the popular brand, you change filters 12 times per year and pay $588 for 1,200 gallons of water that might not be certified by NSF, compared to $70.00 for the same volume of Multipure filtered water that is certified by NSF to meet standards 42 and 53, a cost saving of $518 for a family of four over a one year period.
A. See chart below:
Type of Water | Avg. Cost Per Gallon |
---|---|
Bottled Water – Foreign Brands | $3.84 |
Bottled Water – Domestic Brands | $2.23 |
Bottled Water – Home Delivery | $1.71 |
Water Filter Pitcher / Carafe | $0.20 |
Multipure Drinking Water System* | $0.09 |
Mulitpure System With Capacity Monitor** | $0.06 |
* – 750 gallons
** – 1,200 gallons
At these prices, 750 gallons of domestic bottled water cost the average consumer over $1,670. 750 gallons of purified, great tasting Multipure drinking water cost the consumer only $70 per replacement filter. The difference is significant! The savings are real!
